Andrina Rijken : Speech Pathologist
Andrina Rijken, a speech pathologist with over 20 years experience, joined the Health Care Plus Medical Centre team in 2021. Andrina will be available to see new and exisiting patients on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Andrina has worked as a Speech Pathologist since graduating with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology from the University of Queensland in 1999. She has worked across a range of settings including schools, homes, community clinics, kindergartens and in private practice. Andrina has extensive experience supporting clients with various aspects of communication including:
• Speech production
• Oral and written communication
• Literacy
• Social communication
• Stuttering
Andrina’s areas of special interest include paediatric and adolescent communication difficulties, Autistim Spectrum Disorder and Literacy. She is passionate about working in partnership with families, parents and carers, acknowledging how essential their involvement is to the client’s progress. Andrina aims to collaborate with family members in order to deliver therapy that is individualised for the client. She believes that such an approach is essential for achieving the best outcomes for each client in their home, school and/or community life.
Andrina is committed to using the best available evidence to diagnose and treat communication difficulties and as such is a Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia. In order to maintain this status, she participates in the Professional Self-Regulation Program for continuing professional development.
